How come you became a Nurse? I became a nurse more by default I guess. Many years ago after completing my A-levels and working in various jobs in my local area as a factory worker, upholsterer, labourer, I made the decision that my career was to be within the emergency services i.e. Police, Fire Service or Nursing due to the unique challenges and diversity each job role provided. At that time my local health authority were recruiting Student Nurses and the Police and Fire Services were not. Another time, another year and I could quite easily have joined the Police Force. Mind how you go.

What is your proudest moment as a Nurse? There have been lots of fantastic Doctors and Nurses I have worked with, lots of patients  whom I  have looked after and some great companies I have worked for within the occupational health setting.  However being able to call myself a nurse is something I am as proud of now as I was in 1992 when I qualified.   

If you hadn’t become a Nurse, what would you have been? A policeman
